today’s world cyber bullying has turned
out to be one of the biggest ways to intimidate

prove it. That is why our team put together our
on-line reporting system. Here your students can
copy and paste right into our program any forms
of cyber bullying so you can deal with this
problem..." (US) |

Minds
and K9s, Inc.
Project Opportunity:
National Literacy Program seeks authors/participants and Program Partner
Organizations: Minds and K9s, Inc, a nonprofit provider of mental health
resources and direct-service programs, and a SAMHSA NASC Regional
Partner organization, is seeking authors of all ages to share their
stories about what a difference a friend makes. While the project is
open to anyone, we're also hoping to reach people that will share their
stories from the perspective/associated with bullying or being a bully.
"What a Difference a Friend Makes!" is a catchy phrase; Minds and K9s
would like to hear how a friend made a difference in your life. Too
young to write, or prefer to draw a picture? Share your story of
friendship through art, mail your drawing or send the image via email.
Full information about the project, and contact information is found on
our website. |

Program helps city kids learn to be good sports
Conflict-resolution plan seen as factor in lowering suspensions By
Lynn Anderson, Sun Reporter, May 3, 2006.
A foul ball brought an intense playground game between Travis Robinson
and Evelyn Sagastume, pupils at Medfield Heights Elementary School in
Baltimore, to a sudden halt. The incident last week could have resulted
in a fight, but Travis, 10, and Evelyn, 9, channeled their emotions into
a simple game -- paper, rock, scissors. Travis' "paper" lost to Evelyn's
"scissors," and the dispute was settled. There were no tantrums,
injuries or visits to the principal's office.. |

Comprehensive Planning for Bullying Prevention in the School
The
Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is a discretionary grant
program supported by the U.S. Departments of Education, Health and
Health Services, and Justice, which provides students, schools, and
communities with federal funding to implement an enhanced,
coordinated, comprehensive plan of activities, programs, and
services that focus on promoting healthy childhood development and
preventing violence and alcohol and other drug abuse. Preventing
bullying to ensure students feel safe at school is one of the goals
of the Federal SS/HS grant program. Not only does bullying hinder
the learning of students in school, but it also can lead to
additional problems down the road. Olweus and his research team
found that children and youths who bully have an increased chance of
committing crimes as adults, while youngsters who are bullied are
more likely to run into emotional and academic problems later in
life. This site provides information on school programs that address
the problem of bullying and creating an environment where bullying
is not tolerated. (U.S. Government)..... |
